15 minutes of fame would have been enough to much of what is said seems to give more credit to someone used to represent a policital need of the moment. This country has many women who in their own individual working and family life far exceed her.
One more try.... WHERE were these interviews taken??? NOT in my state!! I knew when I first heard her speak at the Repub. convention coverage that most of our "citified" nation would have no idea what to do with her. Is the abortion issue the only defining matter for a woman now?? When the woman's movement was strong back in the 60's (yes, I was there), an independent woman who had a strong opinion ,and the guts and ability to express it, was looked on as a good thing!! That she could still remain feminine while doing so was a plus. What happened to that vision?? She has a great job , has born 5 children while doing so and has remained close to the earth while doing so.... Most of our ancestors shot and ate wild game... And where there is plenty of it and the population of the herds need controlled , many Americans still do. Some of us are even close enough to the food tree to grow our own meat... and vegetables. Does a woman have to be willing to kill her own offspring to be an acceptable person in our society now??? I like Sarah Palin and watch her multitasking in her kitchen with her family and discussing political issues at the same time and find nothing to justify the "AVERSION" I hear in this Street Talk. Maybe you should do an issue of Rural Highway or Small Town Street Talk.
WHERE were these interviews taken??? Not in my state!! I knew when I first heard her speak that this nation would not know what to do with her at all because they have no idea what she is trying to say. .... Most people with ANY non-city bringing-up would understand more about what she is saying... Listen to more than the news hype.... She IS what an independent modern woman should be.... She is strong, and still feminine, and has her own ideas and the guts to say it.... What more could we want? Is the abortion issue the only definition of an acceptable woman now??? As a friend of me emailed me after the Rep. primary, "Hey, she says she's from Alaska, but she sounds to me like she could be a Wyoming girl!!" I loved her, but I could tell from the start that "city folk" would have no idea whatever what to do with her. Back at the start of the woman's movement, I think we would, even then, have recognized her as a great example of a woman... An ultimate multitasker who has something to say and is strong and confident that she has a right to her opinion. .... By the way, there are some of us who DO agree with her stands on most issues.
Barack Obama's victory has definately inspired me to change because for once in my life I feel like I have a personal role in helping to rebuild America. His message of hope has inspired me to believe in change and not allow the status quo of our country to become my reality. I finally feel like America has chosen a leader that we can believe in, who's character will impact our country as well as our world. So yes, I will change the way I live, I'll conserve in areas that I need to conserve in, I'll support the private sector if I need to, I'll make wise decisions that will impact not just me as an individual but the next generation as well.
